greek apparel
by: OwgonI am a future UO student who is planning on rushing a fraternity. When i visited the school, i didn't see many people wearing traditional greek clothing. Do people in fraternities wear the typical greek clothing?

When did you visit? If it was this summer during introducktion, then dont expect to see many students at all. Traditional as in togas? or letters? Fraternity and sorority life makes up only ~16% of students at oregon, that leaves more than 20k people that dont rep greek letters, and the other 3.3k that are in greek life wear letters avg once a week. you will definitely see people wearing letters.. but not togas and traditional greek culture clothing (usually...)

I would answer yes and no. You'll see guys dressed in plain clothes, some wearing "fratty" clothes, guys wearing cowboy boots, and there's guys who just wear sweat pants every day. Of course, some of your "top" houses will dress somewhat nicely most of the time. You're every day clothes won't matter too much but most fraternity guys at least dress nicely when going out to parties or bars. Just be comfortable. But also don't try super and walk around in the rain in american flag chubbies and sperries because you will get laughed at.

I visited last April and saw a couple kids wearing their letters but what i meant was kids wearing the traditional greek clothing as in the sperrys, polos, etc. Its probably difficult to wear due to the weather but will people dress preppier on the sunnier days?
