This something a lot of PNMs are always looking at, so I will try to give a good example of why looking at current trends is not the smart thing to do. The number 1 thing you should be looking for while rushing is how well you get along with the guys in each house.

I'm a junior now but lets look at a frat that we all know has had the biggest roller coaster ride in the past three years; lambda... I went to lambda for my first time near the end of my freshman year for something deemed Themed Thursday. Before this I had never even heard of lambda because my chapter's social chair said "lambda is weird". But while I was there, I noticed all of the freshman and sophomores were super cool. It didn't take too long for people to realize lambda was the real deal, and by my sophomore year, they were one of the more established social houses. Start of my junior year things took a turn for them: they got on probation, then got off, then got on right away, just a slew of bad things happened to them. But as a result most of the freshman in my house don't even know who lambda is.

Pretend you joined lambda two years ago because they were rising. You would be pretty pissed right now, granted nobody knows their situation but you get the point. I wish someone said this to me, but you have an opportunity to start over and meet awesome people that will be your friends for the rest of your life. Don't let a trend take that away from you.

what has kappa sig been doing that's spectacular? You don't hear much about them..

aepi has a boathouse now but that doesn't mean they're rising... I don't feel like kapp sig offers anything different than delta Sig does, except dsig has a house. Boot camp is the only time I hear the name kapp sig. They're chill guys but they don't rage like beta or girls don't love them like girls like lambda.
