by: plzI find it almost comical that everyone thinks a phi and dg are so great when they have to do spring rush to get more girls to take the place of all the girls that dropped. While other houses that are supposedly "lower" never have to do spring rush because their girls actually love the house they are in and don't have girls dropping left and right.

Thank god someone finally is pointing this out! I'm not saying anything about tiers or who parties with the top frats, but it's so important for PNM's to know about things like this! Joining a chapter for their perceived rank or how pretty you think their house is does NOT mean you'll be happy there! The "top" three houses from the past few years have all lost so many girls for many different reasons, and it's really interesting to see what houses didn't lose girls.
Obviously we all joined in part for the social scene of greek life, and if that's all you want out of greek life you can completely ignore me (even though the top houses are on so-pro)! But if you're looking for more than that I really encourage you to go into rush looking for sisterhood!
Especially because we all know that no matter what house you're in, or if you're not in one, you're gunna go out on the weekends and get smashed at crazy parties. Come on, it's freshman year!

stop hating on top houses.... this is the first year alpha phi and delta gamma have done spring rush in YEARS while other houses (yes "lower" houses) have been doing it every year. and no one except the house itself knows why they are spring rushing, and the reasons why aren't necessarily always negative. These houses are top houses for a reason and the majority of girls want a bid to them, which is why they do very well in rush. so stop making stuff up about top houses and hating on them because you frankly just don't know what in the world you are talking about and are stooping down to try bash them.

Everyone knows the only reason girls bash other houses, whether top or not, is because they are so insecure about their own house. And so it goes.

So I'm assuming these are obvi written by girls in Phi or DG. It's been talked about for at least my 3 years here that top houses don't have good retention (aka sisters dropping) because the top tier houses aren't all they're cracked up to be. Girls join to wear the letters and for social status and then leave when no one in the sisterhood is welcoming to them. Don't try and sugar coat it, and even though these houses do well in recruitment is because as you said, girls want a bid from ALPHA PHI or DELTA GAMMA, not always because they loved the girls and could picture themselves there. Obviously there are girls who are happy in those houses and this comment doesn't apply to every girl in every top house, but it does apply to a lot of them.

I think the person above you is trying to say that clearly it doesn't apply to all of the girls in the sisterhood, but the reason top houses lose more girls than other houses is because those girls dropping are the ones joining for the wrong reasons. Personally, I think more girls drop from those houses because they think it will be more of a sisterhood than it is, which is sad and makes the whole process of recruitment pointless. If all the houses are being so fake during the week, how can someone find their actual fit?

yeah the point of this post I think was to point out that the top houses have the most girls who are unhappy with their choice in the end, thus the most girls dropping.

This is pretty ridiculous. Quotas from each executive office change yearly based on the amount of girls who rush. DG is doing spring recruitment as a result of a few seniors (and juniors) who are graduating early. Yes, sometimes new members drop, but it is not always a lack of sisterhood or cliquey-ness that causes it. Tiers aside, please get the facts from someone who actually knows what is going on with each other before you write negative things about them.

Top houses can do spring rush because there is always a demand for them. Not true of other houses.

Top houses CAN do spring rush? Any house CAN do spring rush, but they don't all HAVE to because they fill their house and keep it filled.

Every house can get girls in spring rush, but the houses doing spring aren't doing it because they want those super special girls.. They're doing it because girls dropped idiot
