who was planning on rushing...but apparently all the sororities here suck according to the comments posted on them. Can SOMEONE who doesn't hate every sorority except there's give an honest opinion of the houses along with the chances of a JR getting picked up?

Thank you :)

as a new member of a sorority, i can't really give you an honest opinion of all the houses, but i'm sure someone else can! also, being a junior shouldn't limit who offers you a bid. you go through recruitment to talk to and get to know the girls. while you may be one of the only upperclassmen going through the process it shouldn't hurt your chances!

stop rating yourself higher than other houses. you have a boring house and putting down better houses doesnt make you look good

To answer questions about "rushing," all chapters hold what is called formal recruitment in the fall. Formal recruitment is a week-long process. For the first 3 days of formal recruitment, you visit each chapter once for about 20 minutes. At each chapter, you will speak to 2-4 girls in the chapter about what it's like to be in a sorority and what it's like to be in their sorority, etc. After those first three days, you will rank the sororities you would like to go back to, selecting the top 7 you would like to visit again and 3 alternates. The 4th day of formal recruitment you will return to a max. of 7 chapters, and you will spend the day learning about each chapter's philanthropy. That evening, you will choose the top 5 chapters you would like to return you, with 2 alternates. The 5th day of recruitment, you will return to a maximum of 5 houses for their Sisterhood Day, and you will rank your top 3 that evening, with 2 alternates. The final evening of recruitment you will attend...

...(cont'd from below) up to three chapters for their Preference Night for 1 hour each. Each chapter has its own special preference night ceremony, and on this night you will speak more intimately to one girl about your experience during recruitment and what you really want out of a sorority. This evening is what will ultimately lead you to your decision on your final ranking. After this evening, you can rank up to 3 chapters, in the order of your preference. It is not guaranteed that you will end up in the chapter you listed as your first choice, but remember that if a chapter sees something in you that causes them to extend you a bid, it is probably the right place for you. All of the chapters on the U of O campus are filled with incredible women (regardless of what any of the rankings on this website say), and you will love wherever you end up. I hope that answers any questions!

Another question for uogreek, would you say that this 20 minute thing with each chapter could be compared to speed dating? lol

Speed dating...I guess so, yeah, in a way. In a short period of time you get to know a handful of people by talking to each of them individually for just a little bit. I'd say the difference is that while it's always important to get to know the person individually, you're not choosing just that one person to be your sorority sister; you're choosing her and all her sisters.

Honestly every sorority at U of O has ups and downs. This website is so unreliable and innacurate in every way, and it is a very negative way to portray greek life as a whole. At this school, houses are generally very supportive of one another, especially after several tragic events that haappened this year. people need to lay off the rude comments. If you think sororities are self-ranking, bashing other houses, or posting dumb comments, who cares? Are you really going to let that offend you or sway your own opinion on certain houses? because if it does, maybe you need a reality check. U of O needs to keep working on supporting other members in the greek community and expanding as well as improving chapter involvement. Please, if you are a PNM, do NOT take any of these comments seriously. Go into rush with an open mind, you will end up in the right place. this website portray greek life at oregon in a completely inappropriate and inaccurate manner. FSL is laid back and supportive.
