someone from dg give me closure
by: Ugh
DG was my top choice but they dropped me right before pref night. I was confused and hurt not because I was deluded by the dreams of being in a top house, but because I genuinely felt comfortable with those girls and had the best conversations that went beyond rush small talk. Some girls even told me they loved talking to me and was glad I rushed. A bunch of girls got dropped too before pref and people were saying it was because of a computer error.. I know that was probably a rumor but I can't stop thinking about it.
So someone from DG, please give me closure and tell me what you guys were and were not looking for during rush. I know this sounds pathetic but I don't think I could be truly happy in the house I ended up in until I understand why DG wasn't for me, and why I wasn't for DG.

I'm not a DG, but I want to take a stab at some of the points you raised. First let me say that I sympathize, I didn't get my first choice house and even though I LOVED where I ended up, I still wondered in the back of my mind all the way to my senior year. Obviously I can't answer your question, but I'll bet no DG can pinpoint a reason either. Maybe it was your grades. Maybe you said something off-putting to your rusher and she was really good at hiding it. But the likeliest answer? You probably were awesome, and they probably did like you. The problem was that they liked a lot of other people too. Each chapter has a finite number of invites to give out which leaves members in the often miserable situation of choosing between loads of beautiful, intelligent, involved PNMs. Did you have letters of rec? Were you close friends with anyone in the chapter? Were you a legacy? Did you have a 4.0? Were you captain of your high school dance team? Were you an Abercrombie model? Did you intern for the Wall Street Journal? Because other girls did and were (all real resume lines I saw as a recruitment chair btw). As harsh as it is to get cut, it is worse to realize you'll never know why. It hurts, but unless you're willing to give up your bid & rush as a soph (not recommended) then all you can do is make the best of what you have. Try focusing on how you can improve YOUR chapter and throw yourself into it. You can make such an impact in 2-4 years! Good luck and panel love <3

And no, there were no computer glitches. That rumor is as old as time in the recruitment world.
