do sororities choose girls based on looks?

by:

We had to attach a picture with our application, so I was wondering if looks play a factor in who sororities give bids to? It's not like I'm worried, I wouldn't want to be in a sorority that would dismiss me because of my looks anyway, but I just think that would be kind of an annoying thing to base judgment of someone on. Basically, what I'm asking is are the sororities at Oregon as shallow as you hear about sororities at other schools being? Not trying to hate, I'm genuinely just wondering, because I want to know what kind of environment I'm potentially getting into.

Some sororities do, yes (not naming anyone but I think we all know who). Some sororities are that shallow and tend to judge you based on looks. That doesn't mean that they won't also bid people who are less attractive, but yeah, that's a thing. The picture with the application isn't really used for that at all, it's more for helping people recognize you during recruitment

Tbh if you're trying to get into a "top house" rely on your gpa, not just your looks. A pretty girl with a poor gpa will get dropped super fast.

Yes they do judge you by your looks. The are very selective when they hand out flyers. BUT they are all the airhead sororities. Choose the ones that focus on career.

Flyers...? Pretty sure we don't do that here? Anyway if there were 2 girls that had an amazing personality, good gpa, except 1 girl was way more attractive than the other one, I think it's obvious that the more attractive one would be chosen. But personality and gpa and interest in the sorority etc. are valued higher I would say. Can't speak for other houses though
