by: QanonWhat’s it like being in a bottom house. Not trying to bash at all but would want to hear about SK, or DZ and Theta. Like what are the attitudes and what keeps their numbers low

I’m in a bottom house. I won’t say which one of those three. But one of those.
At first you think there really isn’t to big of a difference it’s just a status thing. Then you notice less people come to your philanthropy events, no one cheers for you at dodgeball or derby days. Sigep? Lambda? SAE? Never really talked to one. They don’t have group chats with us so I’ll go with my middle or top tier friends. You’ll get into lower frats like DTD, PIKE and Pikapp.
I feel like our sisterhood is pretty strong to makeup for the lack popularity. I’m a sophomore and I’m starting to notice as I get older others don’t care as much. It was mainly just relevant as a freshman. You don’t want to hang out with people who rank you as a human on a few letter.
And the reasons we are bottom? Our girls aren’t pretty. Ranks are determined but appearance and involvement. My sorority had a few philanthropies but no one comes because we are bottom.

I love my sisters more than anything but the status thing sucks. People can be so mean. You guys are literally telling us we aren’t good enough and our best friends aren’t good enough. I’ve literally considered dropping because it’s hard to have people consistently being mean to us. I really want people to know that what they say on here and off of this website does have an effect on the women in those houses. We can only try so hard but we can never move up. People are so mean. I came to Oregon because when I toured people here seemed so friendly and experiencing how people treat bottom houses has shown me the rock bottom of the campus community. We talk about Panhellenic love but my house feels excluded from it. This is more for the FSL community at this point but y’all really need to remember your words have an impact.

go where you like because at the end of the day the only thing that will matter is your happiness. I would rather be happy in a bottom house than feel just okay in a top house (not throwing shade at top houses!) because this is college and Greeks are seemingly the only people who didn’t stop caring about a social food chain when they graduated high school. In 25 years what are you going to want to tell your kids?
“Life sucked because I was in a bottom house!”
“My house was top because we were always the best”
“I was in a middle house and it was hard because cared too much about moving up”
None of those. It won’t and doesn’t matter.
You are going to remember the memories you made with your friends and that’s that.
This isn’t throwing shade at any house , it’s throwing shade at people caring too much about their house’s rank

I had no cares about pledging a bottom tier house. Honestly I was thankful to get any bid by the end of recruitment, which had destroyed all my confidence. I was all in and determined to be positive. Expectations and mind set are pretty powerful.
To be totally honest I do get embarrassed at times by some sisters but NEVER by my letters. You do end up with a lot of randos, girls that are large, not pretty or painfully awkward. It can take you back to middle school mentality quickly. I know we are unpopular and get mocked. I thought I could somehow help improve the reputation and recruit more popular girls but the system is just too big. And the Greeks are such a small population on campus. Overall it has been worth it because of some amazing girls I’ll have forever.

Also, no one wants to join something known as “the bottom” house when rushing. They avoid us like the plague so they don’t have to have that title.
