why are kd and dg in trouble?

by:

I'm hearing a lot about KD and DG being on probe, what happened? Will they still be able to do events this year?

They both made grades so they'll be fine. Just look at XO. They were in major violation a couple years ago but came back really strong

no social prob for dg either, the status just a precaution after resolving issues from last year

It shouldn't concern PNMs except to know that UO is really cracking down on ALL houses to improve Greek life. It could be any house next simply for being too loud etc

So is anyone actually going to say what happened? WTF.

the reason no one will say is because no one really knows the 100% truth unless you are in the house. 9 times out of 10 its not as bad as the rumors so no one buys into anything. All that pnm's need to know is that it seems like both kd and dg have gotten their situations under control. If phc doesn't see any cause for concern in terms of notifying new members, then pnm's should just ignore rumors. If a house did anything like hazing or anything really bad they wouldn't be allowed to recruit so every house is completely fine. The entire greek system is just under a microscope for every tiny thing, not just two houses. in general: pnm's should not ever listen to any rankings or rumors or bashing on greek rank its all just BS. In actuality our greek life isn't the war zone it appears to be on here. Everyone is friends with people in every house. SO ignore greek rank. It sucks.

I heard sororities don't haze. OMG Please be honest and let PNMs know if they do! This would help me decide to rush

100% agree with above poster: only members know and those aren't things that get discussed outside of the chapter. I want to point out though that it isn't as simple as "PHC would notify PNMS." I don't know of any situation where a college PHC has given a disclaimer on a chapter like that, besides being public about probation status. Unfortunately, it is not unheard of for a national council to pull a charter right after new members join. (check out what happened to Tri-Delta at Indiana this year). I don't know a thing about what went down with KD, but I know that DG has had a choppy relationship with their HQ for a while. Their nationals came in like 7 years ago and dropped the hammer, put them on 2 year social probation. DGs were tight-lipped, but it sounded like something to do with a scavenger hunt, not a scary basement hazing situation. So is it possible that their HQ/ university admin gets fed up this year and pulls a charter? Yeah. It definitely is. Likely? Doubt it. PNMs have to decide if probation matters to them, but FWIW I know women in both of those chapters who have had GREAT experiences. If one of those chapters happens to be where you click, then don't feel like you can't join because of probation.

Both will be fine. I'm not even worried about DG. If XO could survive their near tragedy at Phi Psi then this is nothing.

My understanding is that KD is not in trouble with their nationals at all anymore so the risk of their charter being pulled is basically zero.
