sorority costs are ridiculous

by:

$1000 a term for live outs?. Someone tell me what this cost covers? This is a huge deterrent from registering for recruitment

Someone posts to ask a question and your response is "get your facts straight" How about answering the question instead of dismissing them. Way to make Greek look like jerks......

I'm not sure what report you're looking at but to keep up socially, lol yeah you're spending a lot more than $1,000 a term. My dues are anywhere from 400-800 a month, this isn't including the clothes, the booze or anything socially. Anyone that ignores that reality...lol

I should clarify: if you want any power in your sorority, it's expensive. you can get by, just know that someone (always) is keeping track of what you can do.

They are expensive and if money is a concern you should probabaly not go greek. Its just the way it is.

They told us it'd be $600-$1000 each term but it turned into way more than that

that sucks, $200 a week I can think of so many other things I could do for my future

It is not 200 a week. A term is 11 weeks long! It is less than 100 a week. Still not cheap but lets be accurate at least while we are bashing. All clubs and activitirs cost money. And being in a sorority CAN help your future. Its called connections.

This is totally depressing, I had no idea the costs were so high... My parents are paying out of state tuition and there's no way I'm asking them to cover these extra costs. I don't know how I could handle a job, studying and the time commitment of a sorority. Does anyone else manage a job?

A minimum wage part time job may not even cover your costs depending which house you are in. My advice is to save up freshman year and rush sophomore year to save stress. It should be a fun experience not a burden!

It's not uncommon to have pledges drop due to fees so it's better to know before bid

The houses on probation can't have social functions. So are the fees the same?

The PHC site says 1st year fees PER TERM average $986 and go as high as $1372. I'm already struggling with the tuition increase. I already registered for recruitment but I think I
have to drop before I start. I'm really disappointed

First term fees are always higher because you pay "new member fees" which each separate organization has. The price goes down in winter and spring term once you paid those and aren't living in.

Yes it's per term, so multiply those amounts by 3. First year fees are higher (not just first term) . And live in will be way more than any apartment or campus housing
