What are the drawbacks of being in a "top," "middle," or "lower" tier fraternity or sorority? Do you get judged when people see you wearing your letters if you're in a "middle" or "lower" tier or do a lot of chapters not want to socialize with you? And if you're in a "top tier" sorority, what are the disadvantages there? Asking this as a legit question out of curiosity.

I would say it makes a slight difference your freshman and sophomore year when you are having a functions and living in the house, but when you are old enough to go to the bars, nobody cares what house you are in. I actually live with people in Phi Psi, and Sigma Pi; both houses on very different "social levels" (eww) and we all get along great. I can't speak for sororities, but most girls I know don't care what house you are in, and if they do, they tend to be blood sucking demons that are no fun.
