a word of advice to freshmen for recruitment
by: Senior
To all the freshmen who will be rushing in FFR soon. I hope you don't go on Greek rank to form opinions of our sororities. But in case you do, here's a memo to you.
Don't go into recruitment narrow minded. Every sorority at ODU is pretty awesome. Don't listen to the reviews that mean hearted people post on here. Most of them are bitter girls who didn't get into their number one choice or have a vengeance against other sororities besides their own. In reality, everyone has friends in other chapters. We get along pretty well with each other.
Don't limit your options based on the "tiers" people create. You'll only be doing yourself a disservice if you do. Just because XYZ sorority is seen as top tier, doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be happiest there. And just because ABC sorority is "bottom tier" doesn't mean that if you join them, you won't end up enjoying your sorority experience.
Last but not least, I'll let you know something from my own experience. If one of your favorite chapters drops you, it's okay. It's hard to see the silver lining of it during the chaos of recruitment, but trust in the system. Give all the chapters who are inviting you back a chance. If they keep inviting you back, they see you as sister potential, even if you might not see it. The chapters know what kind of girls would fit in their chapter, trust that where you'll end up is where you belong.
Get excited for recruitment. Being in a sorority at ODU is amazing :) Good luck!
