joining a sorority as a sophomore transfer
by: bg18I’m going to be a transfer student to BG in the fall from another 4 year and am interested in joining a sorority. How different is the recruitment process for a sophomore transfer? Also, after bid day, would I be able to make friends with sisters in my graduating class fairly easily even though I would be in the mostly first year pledge class? Thank u!! This site isn’t my fav but I thought i could get some advice.

All pnms attend the exact same recruitment process regardless of school year attained. Each sorority chapter maintains a private, individual standard of criteria for whom they want as new members. Some will invite sophs and transfers, some won't.
To remind you: sororities have the upper hand when inviting students to parties during recruitment. You have a say in which homes you would like to return to, but they have final say as to whether they will invite you back.
This means you shall keep an open and honest mind about any chapter extending you any party invitation. You will not drop entirely from recruitment until AFTER attending all pref party invites you receive. This maintains a fair and open recruitment process where your final choice is not based upon any tent talk, gossip and rumors or sudden emotional bursts of feeling.
After Bid Day, how and whether you make friends with your new sisters is entirely up to you.
