a pnm’s perspective
by: Pnm&m
I can’t sleep- too nervous. So here are my impressions. (My main experience of sororities is based on TCU because my cousin goes there, so that’s what I had in mind)
Chi Omega, Kappa Delta, and Pi Beta Phi
My favorites.
I loved all 3 and would be happy with any one, I think.
I really did like Pi Beta Phi, but they didn’t seem as “together”, if that’s the right word. I liked that all 3 have different types of girls, but it almost seemed like Pi Beta Phi doesn’t know who they want to be as a group. Lol Minor problem though.
But I did get my choices for pref and they were Kappa Delta and Chi Omega.I cried at both. I knew I would. I did finally put one first and one second, but I don’t think I’ll be disappointed with either. I can’t wait!
Alpha Phi,
Most are very pretty, some not so much, they were nice to me but all but one seemed kind of fake-sweet. I also saw one give another a kind of “I hate your guts but we all have to smile” look that I almost laughed out loud. But if I had to choose based on the house, no contest. Theirs is so beautiful.
Zeta Tau Alpha
Way different than I expected. TCU is bleach blonde, spray tan Barbie Zeta. This chapter is so different. I really like the girls I talked to, though. Both days they seemed pretty real.
Alpha Delta Pi
Probably my second favorite “house” as in bldg. Pretty but not as new as Alpha Phi. I heard bad things about them but thought they were very sweet. The convos were just okay the first day, but the tour day was fun.
Kappa Kappa Gamma
I was surprised. Judging from my neighbor I thought they’d be queens of the south. Not. They didn’t seem very warm, which I kind of expected, but they seemed less put-together than they should be. I don’t think they liked me either. Glad I didn’t have to go second round.
Delta Gamma
Again. Whoa, not like TCU Delta Gamma at all. I had the dullest conversations at this house. Foyer floor was cool but I didn’t see the rest. They probably have some okay girls but I didn’t like mine.
Interested in what other PNM’s thought.

I forgot to put why I liked chi Omega and Kappa Delta the best!
It’s actually funny because both deal with kids and I’m not crazy about kids, but how can you hate make a wish if the kid is sick? And Kappa Delta is girl scouts. Meh okay. But I also like the child abuse work and the confidence more. Red and orange loses to green and white, (I liked Alpha Phi and Pi Beta Phi colors more)
I like I can live at Kappa Delta if I want to. The Chi Omega girls were pretty and fun to talk to. And the Kappa Delta girls were also pretty and fun to talk to and funny. They both seemed the most real, the least fake, etc. And they seemed the happiest overall. That had a lot to do with it. \n\n\n\n\n

I was pleasantly surprised with the houses overall this year. I've wanted to join a sorority for a long time and when I decided on UNT I was worried that they wouldn't be as great as Alabama and Arkansas. Looking back at old pictures on their various social medias I feel like they've all stepped it up a lot! I have family members in sororities so I know the work it takes to get everything ready.
I had a great experience and I am super excited for bid day!!! I'm glad I went to a school with smaller greek life now because it really does give everyone a chance.
