sorority philanthropies
by: ConfusedI have been looking at various chapters as I am sure a lot of pnms are doing and was a little confused on the philanthropy aspect. I am new to Greek life so beware this may sound like a stupid question. Is every philanthropy "hands on" for the sororities at UNT? Or do some just raise money and don't actually work where the money is going? Don't mean this in a rude way because obviously any donation money helps :)

Some chapters don't really get that involved with their philanthropies. Although every sorority has their official week of raising money, and being completely dedicated to their philanthropies, some girls couldn't care less about it. There are a few chapters that are really involved!

Even if their philanthropy isn’t as hands on each chapter does its best to get involved in community service opportunities within the Denton community. The person above is right some girls unfortunately don’t care as much but for the most part girls within the chapters are pretty involved. As far as chapters that actually get the chance to visit and work with their philanthropy hands on I know Delta Gamma is one of them. As far as I know they visit something called the Lighthouse I believe and work with those who are visually impaired. Kappa Delta also has events where they work hands on with The Girl Scouts of America. Pi Beta Phi visits with school aged children and reads to them. Chi Omega spends time with the child they are granting a wish for and even throws a party for them its really sweet. Those are the only ones I know about that are hands on so ladies feel free to step in and fill in any misinformation about your chapter. Also some chapters honestly may not have the opportunity to interact directly with their philanthropy but that doesn’t make it any less important. Every chapter here is very passionate about their philanthropy and you will be able to see that during recruitment. They are all great and important in their own ways so when you are going through recruitment this year pick the one that speaks the most to you!

Could you give me an idea of what some of those chapters are?
