snap bids this year

by: No

Why were so many snap bids given out this year? Seems unfair to girls who “trusted the process” and took bids to their 3rd or even 5th choice house, only to see girls who dropped bc they didn’t get their top houses earlier in week get snap bids to middle and upper mid tier houses? Now future PNMs can figure out how to cheat the system

WPA told the houses to reach out and give some snap bids since not a lot of girls signed up for recruitment this year. Probably bc it started so early. They went from over 1000 a few years ago to barely 400 so they want to get people involved. Nothing about cheating the system at all no one even knew they wanted the chapters to do this until bid day. It seems like it sucks right now for girls who didn’t get their top choice but the process really does work and everyone ended up where they’re supposed to be

It seems like this is something that WPA will need readdress for next year. Like if you drop intentionally yourself , you need to wait till informal/COB or next years formal recruitment. Snaps can only go to girls that got outright dropped by houses.

Sounds like this year the whole process was just mess up.When you only have 400 girls recruiting pickings are slim hopefully next year you learn from your mistake...

Exactly! If you drop just bc you don’t like houses that wanted you during pref than you shouldn’t get snaps. There were girls who dropped on their own bc they didn’t like the houses they got back at pref and then had multiple houses call them with snap bids on Sunday. Why even let PNM rank their choices at perf if they weren’t going to matter, just let the houses pick and choose who they wanted at this point since that’s exactly what happened

Completely agree. This year was a big mess. Not fair for the PNMs who had to settle for something they didn’t quite want all because some other selfish girls screwed up the process for them. They should do away with snap bids entirely. Just have informal.

Just because a house is a pnm's top choice, doesn't mean the the pnm is a house's top choice.

The groups that didn't want you bad enough dropped you. The groups that wanted you gave you a bid. Accept it, have fun in a sorority, and move on.

That’s exactly why people are mad about the snap bidding and how they were given out. The snap bids were given to girls who dropped out of rush bc they didn’t like the houses who were choosing them. Then got snap bids on bid day from top houses. They should have received anything if they choose to drop out on their own. They preached “trust the process” and then when girls dropped out they decided to give snap bids. Unfair to girls who actually went through the process and is now somewhere they aren’t happy with. While others got to drop, and then choose which house they wanted bc they received multiple snap bids on bid day

There are only a very small number of people who actually know the number of snap bids used in any primary recruitment. I doubt you actually know that number. It is unlikely any house that dropped a pnm before pref had it in their mind to snap bid her before bid day. Usually a house, if it is eligible, will only snap bid women who attended their pref parties. These women actually 'made the grade' to be invited to pref. Houses ONLY become eligible to snap bid if they DO NOT make quota. The NPC rule states: Snap bids are offered by chapters that do not match to quota in bid matching during primary recruitment.

That may have been the way snap bids should have worked but that’s not how it went down at all. There were a lot of girls who were dropped by houses after philanthropy round (day 2) and still got snap bids from those same houses. They did not attend pref rounds for the houses they got snap bids from. So no that’s not at all what happened with PC19.

Or some house/ houses gave snap bids cuz they didn’t get enough girls. For example look at what a sh@t mess of a PC DG is. And most likely 1/2 of their girls will drop at some point b/c their retention rate is like barely 50%.
