is sorority rush competitive?
by: TransferI'm considering a transfer to State and want to rush as a sophomore. Is sorority recruitment competitive? Will it help if I'm a legacy? Do I need recs?

Not at all competitive. Just be normal and be able to hold a conversation! No one here really focuses on where you're from unless you're aiming for Sigma Kappa which typically takes in Greensboro/Charlotte area girls. Rec's aren't needed but can help you if there's a sorority that you really really want. Just don't stress about it! Tons of sophomores rushed this past fall and even juniors. I'm a freshman and I didn't think it was odd or weird at all, I couldn't even tell anyone's ages. Just be yourself! You'll be able to figure out which sorority is for you.

Rush here is totally laid back compared to other southern schools. I think you get the perks of traditional sorority rush without the pressure. Tons of sophomores and even some juniors rush and still get into great sororities. I would be wary about mentioning that you are a legacy unless you 100% love that sorority because some girls do get dropped by other sororities when they hear a girl is a legacy somewhere else. Recommendations are not very important. The best part about NCSU rush is that as long as you trust the system and go to all your events you are pretty much guaranteed a bid!

Sigma Kappa and ADPi can be difficult to receive bids as an outsider, ZTA just wear heels and you're in, DZ is super laid back and no one gets dropped but still good, & no one ever knows what DG will do they're wildcards
