rushing as a junior

by: Junior PNM

Do I have a good chance of getting a bid from a sorority if I rush as a junior? I read that Chapel Hill has a policy where sororities have to accept a certain number of upperclassmen during formal recruitment each year. Does State have any similar policies?

Only if you have friends in it... Anything above a sophomore was an automatic drop for us unless they had a bunch of friends in our sorority

Most sororities have quotas they have to meet for sophomores and juniors. I rushed last year as a junior and on pref night had two of the best sororities to pick from. One in which I had friends in and the other which I knew no one, so you definitely have a chance!

It all depends on how many other upperclassmen rush. Basically, sororities have to stack the grade levels to make sure they are financially stable. So, if you get a chapter that had a lot drop in the Junior pledge class, then you'll have a better chance. I would warn you that you are pledging with a lot of younger girls-- so you don't get the bonding experience that you would because you're older. Only do it if you have existing friends in teh chapter.
