not joining a fraternity?
by: hw17I don't want to be a part of a fraternity but I don't want to be socially isolated. Anyone have any information? State's not greek-dominated is it?

Greek life has so much to offer people that you don't realize until you're actually in it. I understand a lot of people talk bad about frats but I have only seen a handful of NC State fraternities that I would be like, "You should stay the heck away from those guys". Most fraternities understand that college comes first which is why there are test banks and older brothers who have experience in your major that will help you out. Furthermore, I have made so many connections with jobs through my brothers and alumnus. I was able to secure a summer internship and I've talked to some of my alumni about co-oping or possibly seeking employment when I graduate. Even if you weren't the most popular guy in high school, Greek life will help you break out of your shell and increase your social life. Companies will pick the guy with a 3.0 and really active in the community, over the 4.0 guy who just sits on his computer every day. I'd say at least try rush and get to know a few of the guys before you make a decision because Greek life is getting pretty big at State, especially with the new Greek Court. You'll be surprised how compatible you are with some fraternities.
