spring pledge classes

I don't understand the distaste for spring rush. I definitely agree with the quality not quantity mentality but I like informal rush altogether. PNM's don't have to spend the time talking to organizations they know they aren't interested in, they already have a semester of college under their belt at least so they have a better idea of how greek life is and who they'd actually want to join, and they just generally have a better opportunity to get to know the brothers and in turn the brothers feel more comfortable with the people that bids are given to because there is less of a guessing game if people are putting on a front for rush or if they'd actually be a good future brother. Don't underestimate the value of spring rush.

When SigEp's Balanced Man Program is run right, it is a more challenging experience than pledging. While brothers have the right to membership the day they join, it comes with many responsibilities. Brothers must be engaged their entire time in the chapter, not just the first semester. If brothers do not meet their expectations in each challenge, their membership is lapsed. Furthermore, the Balanced Man Program challenges brothers to provide the best experience on campus, regardless of what the rest of the campus is doing. This takes the self-confidence to not care what other fraternities are saying about you.

Next time @SigNu and Lambda hahahaha but it's a fair point. I've heard rumors that some fraternities might drop spring pledging all together next year.
