disappointed

by: Xyz

I just toured NC State and was so disappointed by the campus, and especially how you have to cross a huge highway to get from campus to your lame Greek row. So many other campuses have their houses on or near campus and the houses themselves are beautiful. USC, UVA, UNC Chapel Hill have much better Greek environments in my opinion. Does having to cross Western Blvd get on your nerves? It doesn't even seem like a traditional college campus. And evidently one of the strongest frats has their house several miles off campus?? WTF?

Your first mistake was comparing State to UNC and UVA. UNC and UVA are both very old universities with incredibly rich Greek histories. Up until recently, State was just an Ag and Engineering school, not the typical environment for flourishing Greek life. With little history, much of the groundwork is being done by the Greek community of today. Beautiful houses (nicer than anything in Chapel Hill) are already being planned to be built here, with Sig Ep's being the largest in the state. Western isn't this super wide highway separating campus from Greek court, it's just a road that we cross. Hundreds do it everyday without problem.

Western Blvd is a busy 4 lane highway. Do you even go to State? Our Greek Life is pathetic. It's a well known fact. State is a glorified agricultural school.

I'm sorry, when did Western become a highway? State's Greek Life obviously isn't anything close to an SEC like USC or Bama, but it's obviously on the rise and the portion of the student body that is greek increases every year. Other than Chapel Hill, probably the best greek system in the state. And if you think State's just a "glorified ag school," well I doubt your gpa is even high enough to be in greek life.

I'm a freshman living in UT and I totally agree with the original post. I hate dodging all of the construction and I just don't ever see an end to it. It'll probably be my senior year before everything is done. And our Greek system sucks. My older brother was a Sigma chi and I think it was better when he was here.
