how often do frats have parties?

Depends on the fraternity. Some party more than others. This would be a good question to ask them at Club Fest/Meet the Greeks.
I will say, though, that if your primary purpose for joining a fraternity is to party you're rushing for the wrong reasons. Fraternities are about brotherhood; everything else is secondary.

I've been to a couple of Lambda Chi parties in their house in Brooklyn Heights. Pretty dope
