rushing as a sophomore?

I will be transferring to NYU in the fall as a sophomore and want to join a sorority. I'm coming from a school in the Southeast where Greek life is pretty big. If I choose to rush next year at NYU, how competitive is it for a sophomore girl to get a bid to a top tier sorority like DPhiE or ZTA? Are letters of rec extremely important, and is there anything in particular these two organizations are looking for?

Being a sophmore is fine. If you can get letters of rec. If not, don't worry about it.

be pretty, interesting, and photograph well (DPhiE has a photobooth the first day of rush to weed out anyone they don't think is good enough)
