cob means continuous open bidding and its basically informal recruitment that happens when a sorority doesn't meet their quota. it is very casual and unstructured but theres no guarantee which if any sorority will participate especially since they probably won't have any issue meeting quota this year since SO many girls came out.

^^this !! if an org does end up doing cob most of the time its really lowkey. i also wouldnt count on cob events happening next week, because orgs spent a ton of time working on their current recruitment events and they’ll have to think of more things to do for cob.

COB continues until a chapter reaches "total". The term "Quota" is irrelevant after bid day. Quota only controls the number of bids extended on bid day. After that, sororities are open to continuously offer bids until they reach total. They often go for the girls on their bid list that the university cut them off from offering bids to on bid day. As for quota, that number is supposed to be decided by the number of women going through rush divided by the number of sororities on campus so that every woman going through rush gets at least one bid. Is NYU following NPC rules? Total is determined after bid day. Again. These are NPC rules.

so basically, the girls who didn't get invited to pref have an extremely low chance of getting a bid from the sorority they want...?

Keep an eye out throughout the day Saturday for a bid, and if orgs are doing cob that will start Sunday! It’ll be very informal with no Panhel oversight (as long as there’s nothing horrible going on)

If anyone doesn't get a bid on bid day, PNM's need to go complain to the Dean of Students. National Panhellenic council has rules and you guys seem to be stuck in some cruel game if anyone going through pref doesn't get a bid. All your rush questions answered.

formal recruitment has quota. there is no quota this year because it's an informal recruitment. there is only a total
