pref night etiquette
by: pnmare we allowed to express to our number one choice that they are our top and we want them to pick us or is this not allowed lol? i want to make it clear that i am going to pref because i have really enjoyed this specific org’s events and i want to be in it

you can say you’re interested in some aspect of them a lot but sometimes it’s a bad look if you express that they’re your top sorority. my biggest advice if you want to let them know you’re interested express how you’ve felt in the rooms with them or express how much you like their philanthropy or their sisterhood. I would t use the words you’re my top in the rooms

I don't get how saying a chapter is your top choice, directly to them at Pref, would be a bad look. If you were invited to Pref, they want you. They may not be able to give a bid to everyone who comes to Pref, but they don't invite people to Pref who they cannot see as sisters. At that point, it's a safe bet that they will be thrilled if you tell them that they have made you feel at home, or it would make you so happy to be part of their sisterhood, or that you feel in your heart that they are where you belong. However you say it, it cannot hurt you to leave without question that you would be glad to accept a bid from them, whether you say "you are my top choice" or some other way of expressing it. Good luck & remember that at the end of the day, having a choice is great - but any of the choices at NYU can lead to meaningful sisterhood.

At this point it’s very possible that orgs are going for many of the same girls as THEIR top picks, so depending on the organization it may make a huge difference for them if you express that you REALLY like them and would accept their bid if it was given. Normally it might be awkward but i think given the circumstances you should make your preference clear, bc they all want their first round of bids to be given to girls who WILL accept them.
