online/in person

i'm so confused as to why everyone seems to be literally complaining SOO much about virtual recruitment. i rushed last year, and dropped and decided to do it again this year, and this is so much LESS intense. i don't mean to be rude, but most of you on here need to stop whining, because if you're complaining THIS much, you wouldn't survive ONE second at a southern school's recruitment process. Literally, until you've trekked nine flights of stairs in Kimmel in heels, walked into a literal intimidating room of like 400 girls literally all trying to talk all over each other and get a word in, gotten dropped by 5 sororities after the first day, please don't complain. This process is much less stressful and time consuming, and it seems like the orgs are trying as hard as possible to make this as accessible as possible. SO EVERYONE PLEASE CHILL OUT IT IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD

so i don't think this is nice. people's feelings are valid.
1) i think a lot of people would be genuinely willing to put in the physical and time commitment to do in person rush and still prefer it bc it's so much easier to get a vibe and send off vibes in real life. online is so awkward and you really really can't tell who anybody is and what they're like or even connect with people to talk about the process as friends (/ other pnms)
2. why are you using the southern schools as a standard? lots of people come to nyu to avoid that sort of atmosphere so why would that be applicable? it's not some sort of competition of survival lmfao

i do agree people should chill out, but a lot of people here are stressed, and if you don't know them and their feelings be kind??

this >>>>. these feelings are valid, in my opinion. i also don't think it's fair to compare this to a southern school, i have tons of friends who just rushed there and the process is so different as there's so many different orgs there (while we only have 7), so it's not really a comparison. posts like these will only make these people feel worse, so please be nice :).

I said 1 line about southern schools, and I mainly compared this experience to last years. Zoom isn't that bad, and it is still easy to get the vibes, the only thing I think is valid to complain about is the amount of time you're able to speak. Like there is just a lot of complaint about not getting invited back, when in person, there is a lot more of a harsher cut. That is literally how the process works, and unfortunately how the cookie crumbles. I'm just trying to get people to be a little more realistic, and have less of a rosy view of what this process is supposed to be.

these girls are allowed to be stressed and confused like everyone else bc let’s be honest, rush is a placeholder for “do I have friends” “do I fit in” “was NYU the right choice”. it means a lot to these girls bc they’re trying to find themselves and their community. be empathetic
