feelings about rush

by:

I thought rush was going well, but I’m really not getting many third round invites. This makes me feel like no one here likes me and I should just transfer schools. Does anyone else have similar feelings?

first of all, a few sororities haven't even had their second round events yet. i think you just need to relax a bit, and getting an invite back from a sorority is not a good judge of whether "no one here" likes you. NYU is HUGE and Greek life is just a small part of it, you definitely should explore more realms and join groups and clubs that you're interested in so you can find your people, if you don't like it after that, you can consider transferring. But I do think it is a bit drastic to want to transfer because of sorority invites, NYU is so much more than that

zeta. it's just rlly sad because i tried SO hard and i was completely myself and they didn't want me. i know I'm not supposed to take it personally, but it's just so rough to know that you showed somebody your true personality and they rejected u

I got dropped by zeta too :( I feel you, it’s so disappointing. But the other 2 sororities I have left are nice so I’m giving them a chance

hey, i just got cut from zeta too. i feel like everyone says not to take it personally but then i see all of my friends getting invites and i'm the only one excluded, it's hard. i was trying to join greek life at nyu so i could find my place when i didn't feel as if i was fitting in, and it's almost made me feel worse. i feel like all of my friends will get bids and i won't so then i'll be excluded from the few friends I have here. i was already considering transferring next semester/next year and am considering even more now. i know this may come across as dramatic, but some people really do have social anxiety over these things, please be sympathetic.

Just bc u guys we’re not invited to this next round does not mean u were cut. Y’all there is one more week left. It is just one of many rounds and they’re clearly not finished. This goes for ALL orgs.

I’m sorry you’re feeling that way. I agree that this process has been a lot and honestly just emotionally draining at times. I was in a similar situation to you last year and I understand how left out you may feel. However, I was still able to keep up my friendships with the girls who joined another sorority and also made friends in mine. I’m not trying to downplay how you’re feeling at you, I just really feel for you and want to offer some words of encouragement :) I hope everything works out for you and you’re happy wherever you end up

Just because an org cuts you it’s not the end of the world. I’m friends with so many girls whose orgs have dropped me. At the end of the day, recruitment is a way to find friends and develop relationships and even if you got dropped it doesn’t mean that they don’t like you. And if you care more about the name that you would get than the girls in an organization that’s sad.

when i rushed my fav org dropped me and i wanted to quit rush. i was also considering transferring at that point in college. my rho gamma told me to stick with it and trust the process. i didn’t really click with my org until a couple months in but now i can’t imagine it have happening any other way. rush is only first impressions!
