Which sororities are most into social justice?
by: pnmI heard we're not supposed to talk about politics during rush but picking a house that is liberal and into social justice is important to me.

It’s NYU lol...most students are liberal and have social justices causes they care about. I think you can bring it up if you don’t make it political. Like when the sisters ask what your interests/passions are you can bring up how you’re passionate about the environment or women’s health or whatever your interests may be
#2by: go for it
I spoke about my interests in social justice / passion for human rights as it was a huge part of my life and also related to what I’m studying. I think you should go for it and if it’s not a good fit for a sorority that’s recruiting then you probably weren’t mean to end up there anyways!

talk about politics if it’s something you care about. this rule is mostly to avoid discomfort but it’s important that you make it known what your values are to see whether they align with the sororitys. also feel free to ask what they might be doing/have done in regards to current social issues as well
#6by: No
Sororities have different types of girls and you’re not going to be able to have a sorority with no one who disagrees with you politically. There is house That actively discriminates based on race and class, but it’s obvious which house that is if you’re looking to avoid that sort of thing.

my chapter is changing our guidelines this year to allow for social justice related topics in the room because it’s important to our sisters!! not sure if other chapters are doing the same but definitely don’t feel like you can’t talk about important human rights issues just because they’re “political”
