should i drop?
by: SadI got a bid from my second choice sorority and I don't feel as excited as I wish I did about bid day... some of the girls in it are really cool but others are just plain weird (not to be mean, just being honest about my feelings). I want to have a social life in college and don't want to be unpopular because of my letters. Should I drop and rush again or just join and try to like it? How much does sorority life in higher tier sororities differ from the lower ones? I'm worried I won't find my people and ended up in the wrong house.

don't feel bad! dropping and re-rushing is kind of a no-go. it's awkward for everyone, and who says the results will be different?
you'll find your home no matter what organization you're in. the sororities are huge, and greek life at NYU is such an interactive, chill community that you won't be stuck with the same people. sororities are not the end-all, be-all of your social life. if you're a cool outgoing girl, your social life won't be defined by your letters, promise! the only thing that's different in the tiers is how many "conventionally attractive girls" there are, which results in frat popularity. but if you're attractive and put yourself out there, you'll meet boys either way.
hope this helped! and let me add - there will most definitely be girls in your pledge class that are like-minded, i. e. disappointed with the results and trying to make it better. see it as a project!
