frat rush process
by: ?Whats the rush process like? Do frats already have pledge classes filled before the formal events start, like do I need to get to know brothers before?

The rush process is basically a 2 week period where fraternities host events both together and independently. It starts with meet the greeks where you are in a room with ALL of NYU greek life. Then the week goes on with the fraternities hosting events where you can talk to them and socialize (usually billiards, food, and an interview night). There is also a formal recruitment where you with a group of other rushes go from room to room to meet every fraternity.
NYU's greek life is too small for fraternities to have their entire pledge class full before the formal events. The whole point of rush is to meet the brothers and find out which fraternity you think you will fit in with. That being said, talk to as many brothers of as many fraternities as you can, when you find a fraternity you think you might like, go to ALL of their events, ignore the rankings, and finally, don't suicide rush a fraternity or write off the smaller ones. Even if you don't fit in with a certain fraternity, it is still good to know people in other fraternities and greek organizations when you do join NYU greek life.
