sororities' personalities
by: pnmHey guys, I am thinking about rushing and am curious about the different vibes of the sororities at NYU. Which ones are more laid back? Which ones are dedicated to philanthropy? Which ones have the tightest sisterhood? A description on the overall vibe, philanthropy, and sisterhood of all of the sororities would be great.

Hey girl! Excited to know that you're so interested :) Honestly best way to find out about the different sororities and the girls' personalities, dedication to philanthropy, and sisterhood is really by going through recruitment. I rushed last year, didn't really know about any of the sororities and you really don't know until you go into the different sorority's rooms and meet the sisters. They also discuss their philanthropy & events, and you can see sisterhood just by looking at the way the girls interact with each other. You get a sense from the vibe in the room. Best word of advice: Do not base your decision off of this website, because your opinion will def change once you begin recruitment. All I can say is: go with the girls who have everything that you are looking for. Go with what is the best fit for you.

To be fair DG wasn't allowed to do anything because it was their first semester here so they shouldn't be ranked socially or philanthropyly because they haven't had the chance to do anything yet

Have to agree with the above. To be honest, before I rushed, I read these posts and was convinced I wouldn't want a specific sorority because I read awful things...years later, I can tell you I ended up in that one because I loved the sisters I met in person during recruitment, and once I joined, I found out for myself that 99% of what's written on this site are rumors. I know it's addicting to read everything here, but try to relax and put your best self out there. Meeting the sororities in person, they'll be much more similar than they seem on here where they are constantly being compared
