rec letters
by: pnmHow important are rec letters? Do I need to get one (or two) for every sorority??? I am from out of state and don't have any real connections. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. Thanks

There will be NPC groups absolutely requiring recs, but as a pnm you will not be privy to which groups. But don't despair.
Please know that sorority alums keep their eyes and ears open for young HS talent they know will excel in the sorority realm, not strictly for membership in their personal house but for any welcoming sorority.
Recommendations and resumes sent from an alum to her sorority act as guides to chapters looking for sisters and friends.
Sometimes when a chapter needs a rec for a young student who has none, they might inquire of an alum group in the pnms hometown as to pnms personal character. People talk to people and know people.
Sorority alums understand the skills, grades and character it takes to belong, and know the type of young women who will flourish in the sorority environment.
You should garner recs from sorority women you know. The impact of a personal rec outshines one from a virtual stranger.
