sophomore quota

by: Wtf

Panhellenic should drop that stupid secondary quota. Chapters end up having to take sophomores that would never had the chance to pledge those sororities as freshmen. With a 95% bid rate if you stick with it, this quota just sucks.

I agree. It was a good idea gone bad, makes no sense at all because if you make it to pref you are guaranreed a bid. This only encourages pnm to drop in hopes of something better and I absolutely agree with above post!

yeah but it's helpful for those who are sophomore transfers or people that didn't have the grades/time/money to rush freshman year. stop being selfish.

Sororities take sophomores regardless of quota but this whole
Thing of Making us try to take a set number is ridiculous Transfers etc are whole different story and we know it. M

There was a problem a few years ago of several "top" sororities refusing to take sophomores so "regardless of quota" isn't exactly true. The quota means that sophomores are supposed to be given the same chances as freshmen since two or three years ago it was nearly impossible to get into several sororities as a sophomore. Whether the quota is actually doing good or not is debatable though.

I get what they were trying to do but when the pref to bid % is 99, why give girls who just didn't like what was left s better shot next year. Seems counter intuitive. I get transfers and grades tend to be your own dumb fault. But that's like saying. Take X blonde girls take X tall girls. Take X for racial diversity. Too too much Time to rethink
