bids

So what is the point to going to the houses listed as "pre-loaded". How would someone who is OOS even get known unless through the rush process?
I was thinking this would be more open to all guys when in the end it seems it is what everyone warned about, really pretty snobby and shallow.
Any point in rushing next year as a sophomore for a more open and welcoming house?

it's not like the top houses don't hold rush at all. Better fraternities may have a few (10-15) bids lined up before rush starts, but any fraternity that would treat rush in the way you make it seem would just be dumb, because there are hella cool kids that don't do anything recruitment or fraternity related until rush comes around.

That being said, you seem pretty jilted that you didn't get your bid from one or several of those houses. I don't know who you rushed, but if you went out all week and didn't get a call from any of them, that probably means none of them thought you fit in well.

Thanks for the info, appreciate the perpective. Would you rush as a sophomore then? Do the better (not top tier) houses give bids to sophomores?

If you don't like what's available to you at the end of rush, don't settle and rush next year. If you have friends in houses then let them know you may rush again. Do yourself a favor though and don't be tier focused. People that join a house only because of tier regret it.

Not worried about tiers, just want a house that is fun and good guys.
