hometowns
by: okaydo certain sororities/ fraternities bid accept more people from certain places? like i know theta chi has a lot of cleveland guys, and there are a number of girls from denver in dg. is that a coincidence or dirty rushing?

No, it's because people know each other. I'm from Denver, and when I rushed I met about three people in DG who went to my high school, so we connected really well. I didn't end up pledging there, but I made some really good friends in DG who I share rides with to the airport and stuff now. Girls are always looking for something in common with the PNMs and hometowns and high schools are a really easy topic to talk about if you're from the same one. Most rush conversations just tend to go the same way (what's your major, where are you from, where do you live on campus, etc, etc, etc), and finding someone who lives close to you automatically makes them stand out a little bit because they understand where you come from.

this thread is why miami gets the stereotype of narrow minded pretentious douchebags.
And don't knock on public schools. It all depends what areas the school is in. If it's inner city you're way better off going to private school but in a lot of suburbs it does not matter.
