My dear sweet child … it is not unlimited. Recruitment is a math problem. For the sake of simplicity, if there are 17 sororities and 850 register for recruitment, each sorority will give 50 bids (it is more complicated than that, but that gives you a rough idea).
Also, this math problem means that each sorority can only meet with so many girls during recruitment. You will list who you would like to meet with when recruitment begins, but if a sorority doesn’t have you on their list, you will never meet with them during formal recruitment. Some girls will say “how can you drop me when you never met me?” The hardest sororities to get into will ask back only who they know and then if they still have room on their lists, girls who really stood out in their video. If you don’t know a ton of girls in say, APhi or AXO and they invite you to philanthropy round, well you are a truly remarkable girl.
That means ALL the sororities get quality girls. Miami is filled with smart, beautiful, charming girls. Every one of them simply can’t be in the few most desirable sororities.
But do not worry, each chapter here is active socially. You can have a wonderful experience in any sorority at Miami. Good luck!

They know them from high school, travel sports, etc. Most of the sororities keep an open mind though. Also all the sororities do the same stuff so it’s not like only a couple will give you the full Greek experience. Honestly lots of girls go through recruitment and are surprised at how much they actually like all the chapters.

Exactly. I loved rush and was fortunate and got what I wanted. Not many do. Be open minded and actually embrace all the chapters. You will hopefully find your bffs there. Don’t worry about other chapters after you get your bid like DZ does. They’re weak bc they put way too much effort in making people think they “hang out” with all these other chapters. They’re nice girls and all but really weird for obsessing about this stuff.

genuine question not being disrespectful but why even bother with recruitment if some sororities already know who they want before they begin? How do they know them?
