by: PNMIs it true that first round is when you get cut the most from sororities?

its tricky to word this the right way, but many sororities cut the most amount of girls first round. they don't have the time to hang on to girls they "may like" or are iffy on, no second chances on your first impression. this is especially true for the top sororities.
that does not mean you will get cut from 12 houses first round.

It depends on the sorority. When I rushed, I remember the vast amount of girls I talked to were, for instance, cut by Theta right away. But this past year, my sorority took back most PNMs until Philanthropy round and then made a huge amount of cuts before Pref. It's left up to the sorority individually. That's also a good way of doing it because it ensures that you get called back to a certain amount each round even if most of those aren't the one you'll end up in.

Not necessarily, I'm in a top house and we only cut the really awkward girls first round. We have to ask a certain number of girls back each round anyways (as does every sorority so the rumor that some cut more than others is a myth) and we would rather spend the next round talking to girls that aren't awful, even though we don't see them in our sorority

Sometimes yes. It really just depends on the sorority. Some like to keep more girls after first round because they have to ask back a certain number and some are better to talk to. The "top tiers" usually make pretty big cuts first round because nobody ever really cuts them (puts them in their bottom 4). So it is less likely for a girl who gets cut by a top tier be able to go back because less people cut them and there isn't as much room to "filter up". But I think that's the fallacy in the whole thing. I think everybody cuts roughly the same amount each round, it just feels like more girls get cut from some if that makes any sense. Like I remember when I rushed somebody told me that some sororities cut 80% of girls after open house. Can you imagine just 200 girls going back to one sorority whereas 600 are going back to another? That doesn't even make sense, there would be no room for them to cut anymore.

I had a similar experience. It's usually top sororities that make the most cuts after the first round. A lot of other sororities will make the majority of their cuts either after sisterhood round (the second round) or philanthropy (third round, right before pref). In my experience, a majority of my cuts came after sisterhood rather than philanthropy.
