recruitment questions

Hi guys, I am wondering how important rec letters are and how many you need for each chapter?
Also if you have any other tips and information you may find useful please share!

i'm not sure how it works for other chapters, but i would consider my sorority "top tier" and recruitment is basically a point system. you get a few points for having a rec, but not a huge amount. they can only help you, but if you you can't get one for a house then don't stress because a lot of girl have gotten their top choices without recs. as a side note, recs are usually due at the end of first semester to each chapter. also, when you register for recruitment make sure you fill out things like high school GPA and involvement, even though they may not be required fields. some houses give points for that information too, which again can only help you!
you'll have meetings with a GLG (greek life guide) first semester every few weeks starting around october, so she'll be able to answer any questions you may have. the most important thing about recruitment is to look presentable, relax and just be yourself. you want to match up with a house that matches who you are, but also make sure you're putting your best foot forward. the sorority girls are trained to facilitate conversation, so just don't be "awkward" conversing back with them. i wouldn't worry about recruitment too much now, you still have some time even though first semester flies by. immerse yourself into miami as much as possible, make grades and friends, and have fun! it'll be bid day before you know it :) good luck!

Not true... I had Theta, DG, and APhi in my final pref and never had a letter of recommendation. Those are all top houses. I did just fine, and I know many others in a situation like mine too. Its great if you have them but theyre not necessary
