First, try to drop DG if you can right after Sisterhood.
But if you have to go to DG for pref even though you tried dropping them, you're pretty much forced to rank them as your (1) or (2) in order to guarantee yourself a bid from either. If you don't rank them, you risk not getting a bid from your (1). This is called a suicide.
I would never recommend suiciding except this year if you have DG and don't want it. It is not a bad idea. You risk not having a bid from the one chapter your rank but at least you can still do informal.
And I wouldn't wait for announcements. Contact the recruitment chairs asap and let them know you are interested. If AXO and Kappa have all these drops, there are open bids even after formal. They will want their numbers up before chapter totals are due!! This works great if you have friends that get bids to the chapter you want, they can vouch for you.
