received bid from second choice sorority

by:

l went into pref round with one sorority i loved and one i felt ok about. Because i was encouraged to maximize my options i didn’t suicide bid. On bid day i received a bid from my second choice. Is it possible that i didn’t get a bid from my first choice because I was ranked higher in my second choice? Or is it solely because I was not ranked high enough before my first choice made their quota?

the only reason you got your second choice is because you first choice was filled before they got to how low you were rank on their bid list. this could mean there quota was 50 and if the first 50 girls on their list ranked them #1 you would get you got second choice even if you were number #51, it doesn’t mean they didn’t like you it just means they liked other girls more and ran out of space before they could get to you. if you would have suicided you would not have received a bid at all. i’m sorry, they system isn’t perfect but i hope you can take that information and move on knowing that the chapter you’re in wanted you and that when there’s 200+ girls in the org the sorority really aren’t that different from each other and you’re going to make friends no matter what.

hi- im a junior who received a bid from my second choice when i was a freshman. Try out the new member period because you never know if you might actually be happy in that chapter. I am still an active member and I wouldn’t change a thing. Give it a chance
