Transferring into Miami
by: TransferI am transferring into Miami and have no idea which fraternity chapters are considered good here. Which houses have a good brotherhood and aren’t total creeps at Miami?

The most popular frats on campus have already picked out a big % of their pledge classes so it might be tough as a sophomore unless you have connections. However, most frats on campus are respectable and have strong social calendars despite bashing here. One guideline to consider is chapter size. If the frat has at least about 75 guys going into Jan rush then they are generally solid. Significantly below that and they are either new or struggling and that’s something to consider unless you are interested in building a chapter which some people want. Check with the office of Greek life for official registration requirements. Best advice - approach guys with letters and see who you click with before rush starts. Go where you fit in.

I get the appeal of rushing the bigger houses, but don’t focus solely on them. You should also take a look at the smaller frats. I’m not gonna drop any names, but the smaller ones definitely have a good brotherhood worth checking out. I’m not part of a frat, but I’m around one of the smaller ones constantly and they’re good guys.
