kicked off houses
by: turd furgusonyo can someone give the rundown on the "kicked-off" fraternities situations? I know sig chi is boned for a while but what about like sae and phi tau, clearly their still throwing parties and have big presences but will their rush be underground or not? and who can live in the house if at all?

Phi Tau, SAE, Sigma Chi, Kappa Sig all are technically off campus and therefore you can't live in their fraternity house as a sophomore; you'll be in a dorm. Also, since they are off campus they're not allowed to rush and you will be considered an underground pledge and won't actually be a legitimate member of the Miami Greek system (whatever that's worth to you). Those aren't speculations either, those are all facts

SAE's nationals are keeping their house open and keeping their chapter active nationally, so only the school doesn't recognize them and their sophmores can still live in the house (they still have to register for dorms though). Phi tau will be back on campus soon enough and will have their house back. Kappa Sig was never kicked off, they just lost their second year exemption for this year so they still have half of their chapter house open.
