Informal rush happens every semester. The sororities who do it are the ones that are below the quota set by panhellenic. This means that usually about half of the sororities need to do informal recruitment, even if it's only for one or two girls. Sororities that are looking for a small number during informal tend to go with someone who's a friend of an active member. But those that need more girls to meet quota will hold events which are WAY more casual than formal recruitment because they can't be as selective.

Almost right, informal is just a different structure and it's casual because there aren't as many houses doing it/PNMs going through the process. At any school, you'd still have to dress nice and present yourself well.

Get in contact with Panhellenic- they'll direct you to the person to talk to and she'll help connect you with the chapters who are doing informal. AEPhi does informal every year and there's a good chance Phi Sig will do it just because they're new. The number of chapters that do it changes every year.
