rushing as a junior next year
by: JuniorI wanted to rush freshman/sophomore year and I got a bid from 2 mid tiers frosh year and I'm studying abroad in lux this year. I never accepted my bids frosh year (grades were dropping at time) and I want to be in a fraternity before I graduate. Is it worth rushing as a junior/is that a huge no-no for chapters?

Why do you want to be in a fraternity? The best part about being in a fraternity is getting close to your pledge brothers and then spending the next 3 years with them. Coming in as a junior would be only 1 1/2 years active if you rush in the fall and only active your senior year if you rushed in the spring. I can't think of a fraternity that would want to have a guy who would graduate 2 years before his pledge brothers. If you just want to be in a fraternity to say you did it then there is no way you would get a bid.

If this is something you want to do, go for it, the worst that could happen is not getting a bid and being exactly where you are now or joining, not enjoying it, and you can drop but at least you tried. I know someone who rushed as a junior and got in and he loves it.
