opportunities to join during school year?

I'm thinking of coming to school here next year. I want to join a sorority but I'm not sure if joining right away is the best idea. What options do you have for joining spring semester or COB? How easy is it to meet sorority girls so your chances of getting one of the few spots will increase?

Miami doesn't do formal recruitment until spring semester anyway.
