how to get into a top or middle tier sorority?

So I only recently decided to rush and I did not really meet people from greek life this semester so I don't know a lot about anything. I am just wondering what I need to do (appearance-wise and during rush) to get into at least a middle tier sorority. Any honest advice would be good as I really do not know a lot. Thank you!!!
