Many chapters take sophomores! Especially during informal recruitment! There are plenty of people who didn't join as a freshman, some even joined as juniors or seniors because they wanted to be in a sorority but couldn't afford all 4 years. You could try reaching out to panhellenic and ask them about informal recruitment. You can contact them at cofc.recruitment@gmail.com.
