heads up

To all future PNM's at the college of charleston, honestly from what I saw you only got into a "good" sorority (meaning other than SK, SDT, and Phi Mu) if you're either a legacy (someone from your family was in a certain sorority), drop dead gorgeous, or you know many people in that sorority already. Being a legacy won't guarantee you a bid by the end but it does USUALLY get you far (as long as your pretty), if you're not they'll drop you right away even if you're a legacy. If you're pretty but not drop dead gorgeous but still a very nice girl, you wont go far. I saw so many girls crying because they got dropped by all except the 3 I mentioned earlier. Im not saying those sororities are bad, but the others have reputations for being better. If you like one of the three I mentioned then that's great! There's nothing wrong with them, just some are hard to talk to, one is very new and the other just has a bad rep. This is just all my opinion based on what I saw this year and it really turns me off to formal rush at least, too many nice girls were crying because these sororities only care about if you're hot enough to join. My suggestion is do informal rush, it's supposed to easier. Good luck to any PNM's in the future, hopefully the sororities will care less about looks and more about personality.

To the above commentor, I couldn't agree more with what you said. I rushed for formal recruitment as a sophomore and I thought I had a good chance of getting into the ones I wanted. My aunt is a legacy at one the "good" sororities and I am a bubbly and friendly girl but that didn't get me far enough. Throughout formal recruitment, I got dropped from every single sorority that I liked except for one that I knew I would be miserable in. I decided to drop out of bid day because I rather not go Greek than be embarrassed and uncomfortable to wear my letters. I deff won't be rushing next fall and I think this system is so flawed. You shouldn't "trust the system" and you won't "end up where you need to be" because I know more about how I fit in than a computer does. And I deff didn't fit in with this sorority that I got a bid from. I think we need to rethink how formal recruitment works because this week leaves girls feeling at their worst and like no one likes them.

sounds to me like you're just bitter you got a bid from sig delt... i'm sure some of the girls in there were embarrassed to wear their letters around campus for a while but at least they decided to give it a chance instead of missing out on what could've been the best part of their college experience. stop being a baby and grow up.
