I'm a freshman and plan on rushing a sorority in the fall. My high school gpa was really low so how much will that effect me getting a bid.

You can't register if it was under a 2.5 but some sororities may require a higher GPA than that

Alpha Delta Pi's min GPA to rush them is a 2.8.
Gamma Phi's is a 2.7
Alpha Xi's is a 2.5
Sigma Kappa's is a 2.8
Phi Sig's is a 2.5
And Tri Sigma is a 2.75
The min to rush in general is a 2.5 but these chapters determine what they want their PNM's to have. If you don't have this GPA, after the first round, they will more than likely drop you since it is their requirements. If your GPA is lower than the required, don't sweat, work hard your first year and rush your sophomore year! Many many sophomores go through!!! Good luck!!!!

You need a 2.5 to rush. But some sororities such as Gamma Phi Beta and Alpha Delta Pi, you need a much higher GPA to rush them. It's important to have a good GPA, because you need to have good grades to stay active as a sorority woman!

Sigma kappa is why we couldn't raise the Gpa so incorrect on that.

I had a 2.5 overall because of not doing well my freshman and sophomore year. Junior and senior year I got my grades up and started doing a ton of activities and volunteer work. Would Alpha Delta Pi and Gamma Phi not even consider me even with the activities and volunteer work that I do?

Yes they could. But their grade requirements are strict. And I have heard they eliminate girls after the first round if they dont have the grades. But you never know. Both of them look highly at volunteer work and other things, just go in there and talk to them about your grades and why they are like that and be honest, you never know! Good luck and keep an open mind going through! You will end up exactly where you are supposed to be!

Would it be better to get my grades up first semester and rush in the spring or would I be missing out on too much? I really want to be a part of greek life and the activities.

It is solely up to you! You can go through this fall and decide where you fit, if you decide you want to go through in the spring or next fall you can do that too!!! Many girls go through a second time or go through sophomore year! But do what is right for you! I think going for it first semester will get you used to everything and you never know what will happen! You could find your home too!!!! Good luck!!!
