underground soon?
by: Ben TillmanAt the rate that fraternities are getting kicked off campus, what is the likelihood of Clemson starting to have some underground chapters? There are many more chapters on the verge of getting kicked off as well within the next few years and a member of the IFC board told me that SX is not losing their charter from nationals, which is why it is making things difficult and they haven't been officially kicked off by the university yet

it's happening a lot on other campuses so it won't be long before someone tries. i kinda expected Sig Ep to. My uncle told me in the early 90s both ATO and Beta went off campus when Clemson kicked them out and they didn't loose their charters but it takes a commitment from the alumni if its going to be sustained for more than a year or two.

The problem with underground fraternities is Clemson is prepared to handle them. They already have the addresses of every fraternity house around Clemson, should underground/unregulated parties start happening, all Clemson would do is inform the local PD's to check houses on weekends and bring the hammer down on whoever lives in the house for an unregistered event that more than likely is serving alcohol to minors. After a few examples I can't imagine many other kids would risk throwing huge fraternity parties. Remember when Greek Life was suspended earlier this school year, police were patrolling known fraternity houses.
