rec letters are not essential but important. if you can at all get them get them. i know i can't speak for everyone's houses but they're worth something in mine and it never hurts to have them. for the most part, if there isn't something terribly wrong with you (bad hygiene, bad grades, bad social skills, bad reputation) you'll get a bid somewhere, although it might not be your first choice.

People will tell you that everyone ends up happy and all that and that rec letters aren't important. Rec letters are SUPER important. I know lots of girls who were completely dropped from recruitment. Just put your best foot forward and this includes getting good recs! And you have lots of time to get them!
